Morgan Dunham is originally from Austin, TX. “I don’t remember a point in my life where I wasn’t dancing. My mother needed something for me to do while she was teaching ballet and put me in a class across the hall, and I just never left.”
Morgan initially focused on competitive jazz and contemporary, but began focusing on ballet in order to pursue a professional career. She began her training under Meredith Dunham at ONE Academy of Dance, and has studied the Cecchetti Method from many knowledgeable teachers including Diane Van Schoor, Renata Sanford, Deidre Russell, Dr. Kathleen Tenniswood-Powell, Ann Parsley, June Smith, Karla Harris, and Lee Ann King.
Morgan progressed through the Cecchetti syllabus and is a Certified Intermediate Graduate, as well as a certified teacher for Primaries and Grades 1–4. She has also had the opportunity to train in summer programs with Houston Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Oklahoma City Ballet, and the Cecchetti Council of America Summer School.
In 2018, she spent a year training at Kansas City Ballet School before joining Nevada Ballet Theatre as a Trainee in the fall of 2019. She joined Oklahoma City Ballet as a Trainee in 2020 and was promoted to Second Company in 2022. Morgan danced with Uptown Dance Company for the 2023–24 season.
Throughout her career, Morgan has been honored to perform alongside Cirque du Soleil and in ballets choreographed by George Balanchine, Marius Petipa, Ben Stevenson, Devon Carney, Maria Konrad, Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye, Rachel Nye, Robert Mills, Benjamin Tucker, and James Canfield.
In addition to performing, Morgan has enjoyed teaching and creating works for dancers in the Studio Company and School of Oklahoma City Ballet, including solos for Youth America Grand Prix and dancers at several other schools. Most recently, she served as Acting Director of ONE Academy of Dance in Austin, TX, where she choreographed solos and group pieces for Cecchetti Ballet Festival and Universal Ballet Competition, with her students earning recognition through scholarships and awards. She has also choreographed and staged several full-length productions, including The Nutcracker and Cinderella. Morgan is excited to continue performing with Ballet Papillon, exploring new repertoire, and continuing to grow as an artist.
